Revival after 50 years for women's baseball players with dreams
The history of women's professional baseball in Japan dates back to 1950.
Ms. Mineko Kosaka, then athlete, was the first Japanese Women's Professional baseball player. To this day she has not lost her love for the sport, and still continues to play.
There were 25 teams at that time, but as the owner's funds ran out, the teams were disbanded and the league ended in mere two years.
The current Japanese Women's Professional Baseball League cherishes the dream of the first women’s professional player, and much like Ms. Kosaka, we are hoping to continue playing forever.
Now after 8 years, the number of women's baseball clubs in high schools has increased to 26 and the knowledge of women's baseball has steadily spread across the country with ever growing number of athletes aiming to become professional players.
We will continue our work not only in Japan, but also with the purpose of spreading the message of women's baseball throughout the world.

About JAPANE WOMEN'S BASEBALL LEAGUE
The world's only professional women's baseball league
One of the trigger events for the establishment of Women's Professional Baseball League was Women's High School Baseball National Convention held in city of Tamba, Hyogo Prefecture.
At the time, there were more than 4,000 men’s high school baseball teams in Japan, but only five for girls. With their presence hardly known, it was not possible to even aim at Koshien, the famed Japanese high school baseball championship tournament.
Despite the challenges of the environment and against all odds, from hard work and love for the game, empowered by the dream to build a place where girls can make a living playing baseball, the Japan Women's Professional Baseball League was born in 2007.
We believe that in order to promote and develop the women's baseball, it is important that more players can dream and aim at a career as a women's professional baseball player.
